TEXO SUPPORTS CAREERS FAIR AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FUTURE

TEXO Survey & Inspection (DSI), attended a huge careers fair on March 24th, intended to showcase the wide range of post-18 opportunities available to young people. The fair, sponsored by Stansted Airport and Essex Chambers of Commerce, Witham Industrial Watch and Maltings Academy, was attended by nearly 600 students and featured key local employers including BAE Systems and the British Army.

The event was initiated by local MP Priti Patel, who said: “I have held a number of careers fairs over the last decade because I believe that local students should have every chance to access many of the incredible employment opportunities that are on our doorstep. Essex has thousands of international, national and local businesses but too often local students have few opportunities to meet these employers directly to find out more about what is open to them and how to develop a career. My careers fairs are all about bringing some of Britain’s best employers together to inspire and encourage local students about how they can fulfil their potential.”

Students attending the event were able to have conversations with potential employers, finding out about a wide range of potential careers and opportunities, from further education to apprenticeship schemes.

It was fantastic to see so many businesses and further education organisations supporting the young people of Witham with opportunities for their future. I truly do feel that investing and supporting the younger generation is the best way to invest in the future of our industry and the wider Essex region. We really enjoyed meeting so many enthusiastic young people and we’re already looking forward to the next event.
