TEXO Foundation constructing 'station platform' to go with Pacer train classroom at Blyth SEN school

The Dale Specialist School in Blyth has been renovating and converting a former Pacer train into two specialist classrooms. TEXO Foundation are proud to support the school by creating an entire station to go alongside the carriage classroom, which will be used for literacy and STEM subjects.
TEXO have designed the specially constructed platform, and pre-built the structure at the Port of Blyth – where TEXO Port Services is based. The steel structure is 46m in length, standing at two-and-a-half metres tall, giving pupils access to the Pacer classrooms.
The platform will soon be fitted by TEXO’s highly skilled engineers and reconstructed around the train using cranes and highly skilled engineers, with children said to be excited to watch the cranes enter the school grounds. We look forward to sharing photos of the completed ‘TEXO’ station with you soon!

When we learned about this wonderful project, we immediately realised that it was something for the TEXO Foundation to look at supporting. We are extremely proud to be involved in such community projects, and hope that by taking this project from concept to delivery, we are able to positively affect the lives of others in our local area. I hope this unique library is enjoyed by many for years to come.

Alan Conway, Divisional Director, TEXO Port Services

We are overwhelmed with the generosity of TEXO. I would like to say a big thank you to Chris Smith, TEXO Group Managing Director; Donny Marshall, Divisional Director of TEXO Engineering and Fabrication and Alan Conway for making it all happen and for providing us with such a fantastic resource. Not only will the platform provide access to the train, but it will also help to provide SEND children travel skills for the future, reading enjoyment and career aspirations. We look forward to working with TEXO for STEM projects based around the train.
