Fresh off their Scottish Cup triumph, Aberdeen FC has teamed up with shirt sponsor TEXO to host a vital blood donation drive at Pittodrie. This initiative channels the recent wave of pride and joy into a meaningful contribution for the health and well-being of the local community, underscoring a shared belief in giving back. Dons staff joined teams from TEXO and Subsea 7 to donate blood in the Teddy Scott Lounge at Pittodrie.
“Team Up with TEXO” Kicks Off with a Life-Saving Cause
Alan Conway, Brand Executive at TEXO, shared his excitement about the inaugural “Team Up with TEXO” campaign:
“We were thrilled to recently launch ‘Team Up with TEXO’, a brand-new initiative in partnership with the Club, aimed at bringing together like-minded Aberdeen companies to collaborate on meaningful community projects, showcasing the true power of partnership.
“Our very first ‘Team Up with TEXO’ campaign sees TEXO and Subsea7, proudly supported by AFC, joining forces for a life-saving cause: blood donation. We’ll have a fantastic turnout with heroes from AFC, TEXO (Westhill & Inverurie), and from Subsea7 (Westhill). In a special joint effort, the AFC team bus will collect our donor teams from Westhill and Inverurie, take them to Pittodrie Stadium to donate, and return them safely.
“This project holds a deep personal significance for me. Three years ago, I received four life-saving blood transfusions. Without the generosity of blood donors, I simply wouldn’t be here today, and I’m forever grateful for their selfless acts.
“With blood stocks critically low in Scotland, every donation makes a real difference. This initiative is a powerful way for industry and community to unite and help save lives.”
Uniting Off the Pitch for a Critical Cause
Robbie Hedderman, Aberdeen FC Commercial Director, echoed the sentiment of giving back:
“Our recent success on the pitch is testament to the incredible support we receive from our fans and the wider Aberdeen community. This blood donation drive, in partnership with TEXO and Subsea 7, is our way of giving back,” Hedderman commented. “It’s a chance for us to unite off the pitch for a cause that truly saves lives and demonstrates our commitment to the well-being of our city.”
