BLYTH TALL SHIP SELECTED AS CHALLENGE TEXO WINNER

The Blyth Tall Ship project has secured vital support for landmark project with its selection as the winner of the latest round of Challenge TEXO. This partnership will provide crucial funding to construct a cradle and supports, enabling the team to safely complete the build of their oak 40ft Zulu offshore fishing vessel.

As Alan Conway, TEXO Brand Executive explains,

Blyth Tall Ship entered the TEXO Challenge competition seeking support in constructing a wooden sailing vessel, a project driven by volunteers and young apprentices from the Blyth Community. As the vessel’s weight began to exceed the capacity of the wooden timbers supporting it in their workshop, our challenge was to fabricate stools and a small grillage which the base of the ship could sit. TEXO also created specialised brackets for the sailing vessel, and we are providing the labour needed to install the metal grillage, allowing the build to continue over the next year. We’re proud to support this community-driven initiative and contribute to the construction of this remarkable vessel.”
