Creation of Dedicated ROV Meeting Room on Offshore Vessel

TEXO Workspace Solutions was engaged to reconfigure an existing large project office within the accommodation block of an offshore vessel, creating a new dedicated ROV meeting room while retaining and adapting the existing workspace.

The project required careful consideration of the available footprint and the vessel’s existing infrastructure. Dividing an operational space meant that services including electrical lighting, smoke detection and HVAC had to be considered as part of the new room configuration.

An additional challenge was the restricted available height once the new ROV assembly was installed, making detailed planning and coordination essential before work commenced.

TEXO delivered the project in two phases, with an initial 10-day scope in Aberdeen followed by a 17-day phase in Santander, Spain.

The team first carried out the necessary strip-out works within the existing project office, removing furniture, computer flooring tiles and sections of ceiling to accommodate the new partition.

A new L-shaped partition was then constructed using 50mm B15 wall panels and profiles selected to complement the vessel’s existing wall and ceiling system. The wider fit-out included:

• New ceiling tiles
• A new B15-rated door
• Fire-retardant workstation furniture
• Blackout curtains
• Modification and refitting of existing computer floor tiles around the new ROV assembly

Careful pre-planning allowed the new space to be integrated with the vessel’s existing accommodation and services while meeting the practical requirements of the ROV team.

The completed works transformed the existing project office into two distinct, functional spaces, including a dedicated ROV meeting and control environment.

The project was completed safely and within the planned programme, with TEXO working collaboratively with the vessel management team throughout the installation.

The completed ROV space incorporates the new control stations and associated workspace within a clean, purpose-designed environment, while the remaining project office continues to provide a separate working area. The before-and-after photography supplied with the project submission demonstrates the extent of the transformation particularly well.

The finished solution was well received, with the client reported as being delighted with the quality of the work supplied and delivered.
